Praised for his “beauty of tone and elegance of style” (Herald-Tribune), violinist Patrick Goodwin enjoys a varied career as a violinist and educator. Prior to relocating to Canada in 2018, Patrick held the position of concertmaster in the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and has featured as a soloist with various orchestras and in recitals throughout South Africa. An experienced and sought-after collaborative musician, he is a member of Sinfonia Toronto and the Ton Beau String Quartet.
Patrick has been an adjunct lecturer in violin at the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town, and faculty member at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival. Patrick studied in Cape Town and Chicago where his principal teachers were Farida Bacharova and Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler. In 2021 he joined the DMA program at the University of Toronto, under the guidance of Jonathan Crow.
